Lilacs Smell So Good

I took this photo yesterday and am so glad I did. Today It Is pouring down rain and my lilac bush Is heavy with water. I really had a full bush this year and they smell so good despite all the talk about the very bitter cold winter was going to be really hard on the flowering bushes. This bush Is one of my favorites.

Have a grand Wednesday,
Kathi

I so love lilacs! We have 3 Miss Kim's on one side of our house, and an unknown kind in the front. The one in the front got hit hard a couple winters ago, and we cut it back drastically. It is surviving and blooming, but is rather small at present. I bought an old fashioned lilac 2 years ago at an herb fest in NC. It is growing, but not blooming yet.
Happy Spring!

I just love lilacs, and their scent! I have a new white lilac bush near my front door, and it bloomed weeks ago, and is done for now--I wish the blooms lasted longer. I don't know if it will bloom again this year or if the flowers only come once a year--hmm, I should look it up! Enjoy yours! Smiles, Jann

I love lilacs and their wonderful scent! I have a new little white lilac bush that I bought when we moved into our house a few months ago. It's bloomed weeks ago and is now just a lovely bush without flowers. I don't know if they only bloom once a year . . . I'll have to look it up. Enjoy yours!

I have three lilac bushes that are past their bloom but they are hard to raise in Georgia. I moved mine from Missouri to Georgia four years ago. They must need the hard winters to smell so wonderful. When I lived in Florida and was soooo homesick my Momma sent me a Fed Ex box loaded with lilacs. What a precious gift!!! I sunk my head in the box & cried my eyes out. Then I took them to work, wilted and all and enjoyed them so much. This blog brought back such lovely memories. Thank you, Sharon

How beautiful!!! I've never planted Lilacs....oooo I think I might do that. I planted Jasmine last year beside my garage and when I get in and out of my car all I smell is that sweet Jasmine smell. I dont think I've ever smelled lilacs.

Lilacs are one of my all time favorite bushes in the spring. You can smell them a block away with their fragrant buds. You're lucky to have one so close...unfortunately, my yard doesn't have one but if it did, all the blooms would be in my house!

Lilacs are one of my fave scents. It brings back fond memories from my childhood.

I appreciate the picture, we can't have one in our townhome, it would overtake the yard.

Hi Kathi, Its such a pretty picture of lilacs. I know they must smell wonderful. They dont grow here in the desert southwest. Your post about ALS was so informative. Thank you for posting this. I sure hope your husband is having a great week. Take care.

I had lilacs in Utah and remember the lovely scent of spring when they bloomed. Can't grow them here in the desert. I miss them. Thanks for showing the beautiful picture.

Simply stunning! Now I am really going to have to go over to my brother's now or in the fall to get more starts. I only have a dwarf lilac right now. At our older house, I started one in the fall from my parent's house (now my brother's) and it became quite huge. Nothing smells better! I used to bring some in and put them on the night stand so that I could wake up and smell them!

Your Lilac's are so beautiful. I have them next to my front porch and the. I have brought some into the house and tomorrow I am going to cut some more. Mine is small, but loaded.
Happy Spring, Mary
